I was on the way back to the farm when I noticed how spectacular the full moon was, soon after it had risen. I wanted to stop to get a picture somewhere out of the way of traffic, but soon I was too close to the hill to see it. I had to climb Logan Road over the first crest to catch sight of the moon again, and further to get to where there was a gap in the trees on the east side of the road and a drive to stop in on the left. With a finger-numbing breeze blowing, I took several pictures in the hope of getting one that captured the clouds and the moon at the same time. In the end, it took two exposures to get the full range captured close to the way I saw it with my own eyes...
From the Farmer's Almanac Web page entitled "Full Moon Names and Their Meanings" we get this description:
Full Beaver Moon – November - This was the time to set beaver traps before the swamps froze, to ensure a supply of warm winter furs. Another interpretation suggests that the name Full Beaver Moon comes from the fact that the beavers are now actively preparing for winter. It is sometimes also referred to as the Frosty Moon.
